The small town of Miravet is a picture of Spanish poverty. Very rural, but with little in the way of arable land around, its population in peacetime was made up of desperately poor Spanish campesinos. Governments, no matter how well intentioned, can't make corn grow from stone and so the situation here had not improved greatly under the Republic.
The town is abandoned now, as the war looms near, but the red and black stripes of the CNT can still be seen, painted on the walls of the shacks in paint now peeling with premature age thanks to the hot Spanish sun.

A courier on a motorized bike pulls to a stop in front of the burnt out church that serves as K Company's headquarters in the impoverished town of Miravet. Stepping quickly off the vehicle, the courier prompts in spanish, "Where is the commanding officer?"
Konstantinov is ensconced in one of the little village's hovels his men have taken over and turned into a makeshift office. Not that he's done much work in it. He's currently seated at a table, head lulling sleepily, eyes blinking as if heavy from the task of keeping them open. Most would be sleepy after consuming half a bottle of vodka. The other officers have left him alone. The commissar isn't much for conversation these days.
Vaclav stands near the machine gun emplacement in the blackened stone of Miravet's former centerpiece, narrowing his blue eyes on the driver as the messenger pulls in and speaks up so. His regard shifts briefly to the shack where Konstantinov is holed up, but goes quickly back to the courier and voices curtly, "Here," stepping out toward the driver.
The courier steps over toward Vaclav, reaching into his shoulder satchel, and drawing out a folded and secured note. The spaniard's eyes go to Vaclav's collar first, and finding no pins there, shift then to the rank marked on his shoulders. A hint of suprise is in his face as he states, "Word from Command, Comrade Corporal." The note is offered.
Vaclav accepts the note with a crisp nod, dropping his blue regard from the courier to open and study the dispatch.
Konstantinov snorts heavily, his head jerking upward, and grunts something in Russian. But other than that, he doesn't do too much just yet.
'The road and ground west of Miravet must be taken, before sunrise. Engineers have made a safe lane through the minefield for armour to support this push. The fascists must be cleared up to the designated point (2,5). Victory to the People.' The note is signed 'Lister'. No word of reinforcement, or resupply; no word of air support, or artillery. Just the order to assume the offensive.
Message delivered, the courier straddles the motorcycle again, and revs the engine to speed away. The site of launched offensives is rarely a healthy place to hang around.
Vaclav reads the note with a stoic frown. Looking up he barks curtly, "Comrades! We have orders." Shouldering the light machine gun, the corporal steps into the open and passes a look about, taking stock of who among K company is alive and mostly unhurt.
Hans opens the door of his Armored car and steps out, "The Armored Car is ready to move Comrade Corporal. Just name where." he says and nods to Vaclav.
Vaclav eyes the german and nods slightly, once. "Once infantry together, we advance west. Use cover of dark. Once fascist sentries gone, Armour advance west along road, engage tank. Make ready."
"Wait until sentries gone, or until guns fire," Vaclav repeats firmly, eyeing Hans with a stern frown. "We know they watching this way. Go now. Make ready."

Vaclav draws a deep breath, and begins barking out names. Several are listed, and ordered to hold this position. The rest.. "Nowakowski, Abana. With me. We move south and west, along road, take out fascist sentries and support push from armour. Understand?"

Nowakowski picks up his new Carbine, testing its weight and all, a little more used to the wooden club mosin nagant. He nods in agreement with Vaclav, "Ok." he says simply, moving to join the man.
«Game» Nowakowski changes his style to Stealth!
(From BA-6) Hans :starts the engine of the Armored car and listens the voice of the engine, "The Car is ready to go Comrades." he says and waits them to walk.
Vaclav nods once as the others fall into step. eyeing the car, he barks one more time for good measure, "Move west, then wait for signal to attack!" in reminder, before starting out of the town to the south, only briefly regarding the shack-office of the Commissar.
Abana shuffles silently after Nowakowski. The skinny Spaniard doesn't seem to have much speed left in him. He just plods, shoulders heavy and already defeated.
Konstantinov is at peace with his vodka and his drunken half-nap. Glorious is Russia.

A lemon grove stands here alongside the town, the hardy lemon trees apparently managing to survive even here in arid southern Spain. Baskets of lemons lie scattered around the grove, apparently harvested, but now rotting in the sun.

Nowakowski keeps up behind Vaclav, carbine at the ready. The little rifle looks like a toy in the big Russian's hands, the man kneeling behind a tree, peeking westwards.
Abana continues to shuffle along, rifle more lulling in his arms than properly aimed.
Vaclav crouches briefly behind a lemon tree's trunk to stare westward. "West look clear," he rumbles after a moment. A backward glance to check on the progress of the others, before starting in that direction once more.

A flat plain of short grass stretches out around you, broken by the occasional bush or tree. It is rather exposed out here, the grass being too short to hide in, and cover too sparse to hide behind.It is currently night time.

Nowakowski nods in agreement, lying on his belly, sighting in with his rifle, should the need to fire arise that is.
Vaclav frowns, and narrows his eyes. "I move closer. If he spot, open fire."
Nowakowski nods again, readying his rifle.
Abana lies flat, as if trying to disappear into the ground, his rifle going up into a shooting position.

Badlands/Rocks

The boulder strewn plain here under the hot Spanish sun offers little respite to any humans who may find themselves here. The ground offers no refuge to any but the most hardy of weeds, and of interest to the soldier is the problem that the ground is too hard to dig trenches in.

Vaclav moves low to the ground, doing his best to keep the rocky outcroppings between the fascist rifle and himself, and trusting to the darkness to handle the rest..

Vaclav is out of sight of his comrades for a moment, quietly drawing his sheathed bayonet, and after looking furtively around once, closes on Garcia and draws the blade quick and sharp across the spaniard's throat, lowering the body quietly before waving his comrades west to join him.

Abana glares down at the Nationalist corpse with a burning hatred in his eyes. But that hatred, like everything else on his face, is muted by woe. He merely nods to Vaclav brokenly at mention of the tank.

A road wends its way through the landscape here. Pristine and as of yet mostly untouched by war, the road is well paved and makes for high speed travel.

Doubletiming down the road to reach thier objective, before the sun is risen in the sky, the men of K Company come upon a Nationalist artillery position, the crew of which are nowhere to be found, abandoning thier guns at the word of the Republic's soldiers overwhelming thier front line. In the distance a few final elements of the Nationalist army complete thier hasty withdrawal.
Breathing heavily after the night advance, and assault (not to mention this last dash down the road to secure the forward position), Vavlac looks back over the others to rumble curtly, "Nowakowski! Eyes north! Avery, south!"
Avery says, "I don't see anything."
Turning his own narrow blue regard to the west, the corporal draws near the abandoned Breda, machine gun held upright. A nearby solider is addressed: "Send to Command: forward position taken. Holding. Waiting for reinforcement," he rumbles, resting his unbandaged hand on the thick barrel of the Breda, a light print of dried blood left by the touch. He looks back to the east for a brief moment, at the road to Miravet, and the rising sun beyond.
