Marchand looks up and around for any sign of brass stuck on a uniform, or the stride of a commissar from where he's seated. The man's eyes flit from volunteer to volunteer, searching for a familiar face.
There's been rumour for some time of a fresh Nationalist offensive right on the heels of the last one, but in Madrid it all seemed like it was all going on a long way away from here, in any case the XI International hasn't seemed to have been roused into action.
Until today.
New orders come in from Kleber, tellingeverybody to get their acts together asafp, as apparently not only are the Nationalists doing very well, your comrades in the XV International are hard pressed and near routed, and need immediate assistance. Really, it sounds like they needed assistance a few days ago, but it takes a while for the general staff to think these things through apparently…
Vaclav steps in from the west, the last of the company's light machine guns carried across his shoulders. Expression set into a grim frown, the big czech nods curtly in greeting to any who meet his regard. Narrowed blue eyes tick over those present, taking a silent headcount.
Alfred leans up, looking at the Corporal and then nods some before relaxing. While the veteran may look asleep, he's not.
Michael Mehlman notices a new face moving from west, he nods his head and gives a chest salute to him, "Good Evening Comrade. I am Comrade Mike." he says introducing himself.
Konstantinov is here. Where he came from is not entirely clear, but he's among the men. "Comrades!" he booms, to gain the attention of the men. "Assemble! The time for rest is over. The fascists must be routed." That said, he approaches Vaclav, puffed up into what he deems an authoritative stance.
Fritz Yakov Breathes slowly and steadily, with a gentle nod towards the Czech. 'Comrade.' He Says, that is all.
Micah goes to stand in formation, at attention, and raises his fist to salute to Kommissar.
Alfred doesn't grumble, even though he considers it. Standing up he cracks his neck and then wanders over. He salutes, crisp as ever, but his mind is elsewhere.
Marchand gets up as he hears the rumours about Kleber's orders. A final glance around in search of the captain or promoted corporal, even the Kommissar. For now, though, his movement is taking him towards the hitch of the antitank gun. "Allright. They're calling us out to fight alongside the XIVth. That means they'll need all the firepower we can muster." To Alfred, "Comrade, help me move the gun back out to hitch to the tank."
Michael Mehlman walks to the Kommissar and salutes with a fist slamming his chest, he listens the man…
Alfred nods, wandering to assist marchand.
Lind is on her feet. Whatever fever that she had a few days back is now gone, and the exhaustion as well. Some rest was what she needed, that and some food; she's looking like she's ready for a battle as she moves through the milling of fighters. The group she arrived to Spain with has been very decimated, and all spread out amongst other groups. Seeing Vaclav she makes his way to him and simply stands there silently next to him, turning her attention to the commisar as he speaks. Her hand raises in the communist salute.
Fritz Yakov The Vickers was slung one handed over his shoulder, and another hand shot to rapt attention when the Commissar is heard. Feet stanced apart slightly as he stands at attention. Awaiting orders.
Vaclav spares time to give curt aknowledgement to those of his comrades who greet him. As Konstantinov approaches and regards him, the czech gives a curt salute of the closed fist. "O'Callaghan company is ready, Comrade," the big corporal rumbles to the smaller russian. "Awaiting orders."
Marchand starts pulling the Italian antitank gun out with Alfred's help, pushing to lift the wheels from the sunken pit.
Alfred puts his shoulder into it, trying not to pinch fingers and hands.
Micah decides to assist his comrades with the towed gun.
Fritz Yakov noticing the men trying to move the AT gun, he gently places his Vickers down, and then trumbles over, and throws his weight and muscle into it.
Konstantinov issues a raised-fit salute to the troops assembling, doing it in an official and impassioned manner. Have to get the morale up before sending men off to die, and all. "Our troops shall go south, to check the Nationalist tide and keep them from reaching the Madrid-Valencia road," the commissar says to Vaclav. "Position your comrades as you see fit. I shall be there, to observe." That's his main function in battle, it seems. 'Observing.'
Micah stands up, satisfied as the Breda is attached to the rear of the ammunition truck. He looks at the Comrade Corporal for further orders.
Vaclav nods curtly once to Kons, briefly eyeing the motions of the AT gun. "Comrades! Any solider without full combat kit, redress now! All dynamite at hand. Once ready, into Truck! Our bretheran wait in battle! MOVE!" A look given to Marchand, "Comrade Marchand.. Drive truck."
Marchand nods as the men manage to finish getting the weapon hitched to the truck. "I'll drive. But be sure to be ready to leave if we start getting shelled. That truck has no armour, and one hit will blow us to pieces if it's artillery." He starts climbing, opening the door to the cab.
Lind listens with rapt attention, keeping somewhat behind and to Vaclav's left. She shifts her feet a bit, and is obviously waiting for Vaclav to be free for a moment. But she changes her mind at the orders and moves hurriedly towards the truck to get in.
Fritz Yakov Grunts and repositions the Ammo slung about his body before lifting up the Vickers again, making his way into the back of the Truck.
Vaclav voices back, in his deep, staccatto measure, "We dismount before combat. Company! Mount up!" He borrows the absent Irish captain's term for 'get your asses in'..
Micah climbs into the rear of the ammo truck, finds a seat, and stands his rifle up in front of him.
Michael Mehlman nods his head to others and gets inside the Truck
(From Ammo Truck) Marchand calls out, "Load up!"
Fritz Yakov Notice the flare, he scoops it up, and practically bounds into the Truck with a powerful pull and grab of the frame to enter it.
(From Ammo Truck) Micah looks at his comrades who have piled into the large ammo truck.
Vaclav claps his open hand on the back of the driver's cab in a short double rap. "Ready! Move now-"
(From Ammo Truck) Marchand looks around a moment, then nods as he shifts gears to set the rumbling engine in motion, the truck's wheels starting to turn as the vehicle begins to roll.
(From Ammo Truck) Marchand has the vehicle leave the city, the rubble along the roadside showing signs of battle as the road follows the river down towards the flatter land east.
(From Ammo Truck) Marchand calls back, "Where to, comrade corporal?"
Vaclav jolts and jostles along with all the others in the back of the truck, instructing aloud, after another rap on the driver's cab, "Continue south, comrade."
(From Ammo Truck) Konstantinov takes a place imperiously when he enters the vehicle, surveying the troops around him. To make certain they're riding and driving in a properly communist manner.
(From Ammo Truck) Marchand nods his head in the cab, and shifting gears once more, turns the truck to follow the road heading south.
Fritz Yakov Is staring out the back, the Vickers held to the floor with one foot. He was a dull silent man, occasionally sipping from his Canteen, maybe an odd neverous habbit.
(From Ammo Truck) Marchand spots some shelled vehicles at the roadside, and slows the truck to a stop, the hiss of braking.
Vaclav barks aloud, "Dismount! Move, MOVE!"

Lind seems to be determined to keep close to Vaclav. Maybe she's claimed him as her best chance to survive, or there's something else involved. She barely knows him. Soon as the truck stops, she's on her feet and files out after the others, but still makes an attempt to keep on the heels of Vaclav.
Fritz Yakov grabs his Vickers and jumps off the back, Grunting a bit when he lands.
Marchand opens the cab door, stepping out before closing it with a slam behind him. "Okay. Best think of the most likely place tanks will face us, comrade." to Vaclav. "The truck will need to drop that gun off to face them."
Vaclav eyes the lay of the land, nodding once to MArchand's comments. "High ground best. This road to be held open. Infantry take hill-" A motion toward the high ground to the west.. "Fascist tanks probably come along road from further west.. How far Breda shoot?"
Marchand lifts brows in question. "Road to the west, comrade? Where?" He squints looking that way. "I can't see one. The antitank gun will shoot direct fire, aim at what it can see. Not like artillery or a mortar."
Michael Mehlman hrms, "The East of the road looks like a bit higher than the road." he hrms, "We should put the Anti-Tank gun over there." he says giving an advice.
"We pass road in town, back there-" A motion north. "Road run west from town. Hrn.." A short grunt. "What you think, comrade?" He bluntly queries of marchand. No artilleryman, Vaclav isnt above asking advice.
Fritz Yakov Licks his lips slightly, truly wishing he had smoked a cigarette on the way here. 'If I may comrades..I have heard..the best way to penetrate tank armor is from Above..why not place it on the hill..surely it can fire from there ?' He also was thinking of the fact a few HE shells could go a long way in aiding the defense against swarms of Fascist Pigs..
Konstantinov slips out of the truck and promptly takes up a position lurking in the background. As is his custom. He doesn't interfere with the planning between Marchand and Vaclav. He's not really a frontline man himself. But he does lurk over their shoulders.
Lind has nothing to add to the tactics discussion but she's listening closely while checking over her rifle and making sure, once again, that it is fully loaded. She's a silent shadow to Vaclav, close by but managing somehow to be unobtrusive. If he takes a step back, so does she, not giving him an excuse to yell at her for being in the way.
Marchand hrmms, considering. "I'm mainly used to mobilility, tanks and armoured cars." He looks carefully to the line of hills along the road. "Depends on where the enemy's attacking from, but I'd agree that high ground is best. Higher the better, with infantry to support the weapon."
Micah listens as Comrades Marchand and Vaclav continue discussing deployment. He is learning as they confer, taking in what they say and adding it to his databank of military science.
Vaclav nods curtly. "Bring up hill with foot, then. tow by truck, but stop truck in lee of hill. Before get tot top, keep hill for cover from west- Front is west." Turning to the company at large he barks out, "Comrades! Dig in on High ground, west! Move!"
Michael Mehlman Hrms, "The Anti-Tank weapon should be protected by at least 1 Machine gun and 3 Rifleman."
Fritz Yakov Sighs a bit. 'Comrades, I will remain with the Breda, we will not require so many to protect it though. If we place it at the center of our defense line, we can use it to fire shells at any break. I doubt the Fascists will enjoy the explosives it can hurl any more then we would..'
Marchand slowly nods, then turns to start climbing back up into the cab of the truck. "I'll drive her up that packed dirt, following the men. Should be able to drop the gun off there."
Micah wields his rifle at the ready, and looks at the hill that is to the west.
Micah follows the Comrade Corporal, moving westward towards the hill.
Vaclav moves up the hill at a steady jog, weight of the machine gun borne across both shoulders. The top of the hill looms further west, and the corporal spares only the cursory look to make certain the company is keeping up.
Fritz Yakov Glances towards the Fence and looks about, and then towards possible approaches. 'I would suggest we leave range markers..but, it is not likely we have such time..'
Lind adjusts her braid and tucks away some lose strands of hair under a cap she's gotten from somewhere, in an attempt to keep that wild mane of hair tamed for the duration of this. Then she heads on after the others, jogging after Vaclav and making a good enough attempt to keep up with him even if she is soon enough panting; she doesn't have the constitution that some of the men here have, she just has to do her best.
Fritz Yakov Looks towards Vaclav and yells out, just loud enough to be heard. 'Comrade..We should post some one in that cave, if they are quiet enough..they can begin firing into the backs of the Fascists as they pass..' Clearly, he wasn't volunteering him self.
Vaclav barks out curtly, eyeing the ground further west.. "Vickers!" Eyeing the man with the big weapon, "Place in cave. Rest of company! Take cover, now!"
Fritz Yakov Grunts a bit, he had just been volunteered.

Micah looks down of the hill, then across the horizon. Having heard the Corporal's orders, moves for the low stone fence and lies down, steadying his rifle.

(From Ammo Truck) Marchand drives the truck over the grassy slopes, the vehicle taking longer due to travelling off a road.

"Comrade," Lind says, for the first time speaking up, looking up at Vaclav with her chin raised. "I am an expert in assisting anyone using a machine gun. I will stay with you, yes?"

Marchand hops out from the cab once the ammo truck's brakes are set, stepping around in a hurry to the back where the gun is hitched. "Have a pit or position dug in for the gun, comrade?" called over to the corporal and Commissar.
Vaclav turns his harsh blue regard on the scandinavian solider. For a moment he says nothing then simply nods once, frowning still. Looking back to Marchand he nods. "Do it now. Rifles! Moving west, with me. Vickers cover us from there. We fall back to here if hard pressed. Move!"

The ground here in the valley of the Jarama River is covered with short, brittle grass, stretching out in all directions. Too infertile for agriculture, the countryside is littered with stunted shrubs and unchecked brush, and the warm breeze smells strongly of wild thyme.

Lind crawls up next to Vaclav and gets her rifle up, leaning it on some of the rocks. Then she shows that she does know how to aid a machine gunner by lending her assistance on setting it up, should Vaclav want it.
Micah crouchwalks in from the east, having assisted digging in a position for the Breda anti-tank gun. He gets down in a firing position, resting his rifle on top of the low stone fence, and aiming at the horizon.
Jason slowly crawls in from some off apparent direction, his rifle clutched in his arms as he then comes to hide up against the fence. "Lo'. Bit quiet, eh?"
Vaclav sets out the bipod, with Lind's assistance, the scandinavian solider's work enough to recieve no complaints.. a simple rumbled, "Set," when the gun is operational.. As the other soldiers come up be barks, "Behind stones! Front is west!"

Lind moves closer to Vaclav and begins to aid him in unjamming the weapon, once more showing she knows this part. There's a reason she's not shooting anything herself - she's doing more good helping Vaclav. She shoots him a confident look, managing to keep her head cool so far.
Micah notes to Jason, "Damn, that Fascist dog is hard to hit!"

Fritz Yakov The Heavy guns howl out again, making him wince for any one who might be cause in their radius of effect.
Lind is coming in from the west, crouching, crawling, ducking and moving as fast as she can while still taking cover. Her eyes are a bit wide, she's not losing it from fear yet but having to move back took its toll on her nerves now.
Marchand has a badly bleeding hand as he lugs the machine gun down along the fence. The German rifle he'd had earlier is nowhere on him. "My hand. Medic?"

Konstantinov is safely huddled in the cave, not a scratch on him. He doesn't seem displeased about the way the battle's going, either. Until he sees the troops start to pull back. "What is going on over there?" he barks at them.

Lind does as best as she can under the circumstances, but her hands are shaking a lot as she ties that bandage around Vaclav's hand and it's doubtful it's going to aid him much. The only good it does is that she has something to do while waiting, even as she turns her gaze westwards in an attempt to do as asked.

Jason 's form very slowly crawls into the cave, then drops and tumbles into it. He has a bulletwound in his head, but actually seems to be.. Alive. SOmehow.
Marchand speaks, "Can someone move that ammo and grenade in behind the wall, or in the cave? It's out the open, and we'll need it when they press."
Konstantinov peeks out from the relative safety of the cave at the bedraggled, wounded volunteers. "Take heart, comrades!" he booms. "You have made it this far. You are soldiers. You are /communists/. You will not fall to this fascist rabble." Ever helpful with the advice, the commissar.

Micah fails to stop the bleeding with a bandage. He tosses the soiled medical supply to the floor and tries to apply another roll.
Michael Mehlman says "I killed 5 Comrade. I have 32 bullets!"
Jason shouts, "Ten for me, Comrade Corporal!"
Seeing that Vaclav (her hero of choice for some reason) takes out Engel, she turns a broad smile at Marchand. "See? We don't need to hit him either of us," she says and then leans back for a short moment of breathing. She then shakily checks her ammunition. "39 7.92-57 and 16 8mm!" she calls out.

Marchand grits his teeth as he sees the explosion, blood flung about from one memeber of the brigade. He quickly turns, trying to view north.

Marchand nods slowly. "I'm no goot hitting with this machine gun now." He grits his teeth as a new round of artillery shells fall.
Lind is stressed from the shelling. She's shaking somewhat, but even so, she's trying to inspire the others. "Keep steady, brave communists," she calls out. Her voice is inspiring, even as there is a trembling note to it.
Fritz Yakov Swears loudly in Several Langauges, and if it wasn't for the fact he was watching men be pulped, he might have sprinted out in Anger.
Vaclav looks back at Marchand, as the artillery crashes into the breda… "Huh."
Micah ducks as the Breda AT gun is hit, and knocked to the side.
Micah sighs as metal shrapnel fly everywhere.
Marchand manages quietly, "The gun's still able to fire. It's not out yet."

Jason mutters and carefully searches over his rifle, cursing under his breath. "ALMOST OUT! SIX LEFT, FOUR IN CHAMBER!" He shouts, hunkering down again.
Vaclav voices as well, "One burst left in Chauchat. Vickers?" he prompts calling for an ammo count..
Alfred pulls his rifle open, taking time to reload.

Jason checks the chamber before mumbling to himself. "I'm too low! Comrade Corporal, permission to try and collect a new weapon and ammunition!"

Lind crawls over to Vaclav and waits till he's got the MG 34 in hands before she hurriedly reloads it with what ammunition she had. She takes heart in the task, feeling less fearful. "Comrade, I will assist you," she promises solemnly to the large corporal.
«Equipment» Jason has dropped Mosin-Nagant.
«Equipment» Jason picks up .44 Largo Tigre.
Vaclav nods to the quiet words, his hand leaving a gory smear on the mg 34's stock.. Eyeing the north, he curses. "Fifteenth pushed from field.." He mistakenly calls the XIV.
«Ground Combat» You notice Marchand arrive at Wheatfield.
Jason scrambles out of his cover, his face is face is kind of a mess. From the massive wound earlier that almost killed him. But he survived, probably because Kons would be really really mad at him for dying on the field like that without permission.
«Equipment» Jason picks up .44-40 x 30.
«Ground Combat» Vaclav deploys his MG 34!
«Game» Michael Mehlman changes his style to Banzai!
Micah waits patiently for the enemy. His spirits are high since the unit slaughtered the enemy.

«Ground Combat» You notice Marchand arrive at Wheatfield.
Jason grabs the gun. The ammo, and then starts to quickly scramble off towards his cover again. He ain't staying out.
Marchand comes down from the north, carrying an old Mauser rifle with a frown. He's moving slowly, trying to make it into the cover now.
Micah waves to Comrade Marchand who has finally rejoined. His right hand… yes, the one that is lacking a middle finger AND pinky!
Lind glances north too. "Then we are alone here," she says quietly, gnawing on her lip, and frowning in thought. It doesn't occur to her that they too could leave, not at once. BUt then her eyes widen and she looks back to the corporal, with the realization that they could now be circled in on from ALL directions.

«Ground Combat» Jason moves into Shallow Cave.
Alfred moves some, taking the lull in battle to build up his shooting position. Taking a spare sock, he fills it with sand and then ties a knot in it. That done, he puts it up on some of his shooting position so he can rest the rifle upon it. Makes sighting that much easier.
Micah scoffs. "The Fascist pigs will never push us back."
Marchand speaks up. "I saw no movement to west, northwest, or north." as he moves in. "They're regrouping, most likely. None of our allies in sight either."
Michael Mehlman shakes his head, "That isnt good. Take cover Comrade Marchand before the facists come." he says.
«Ground Combat» Marchand moves into Low Stone Fence.
Vaclav's expression remains grim. Nodding once to Lind he draws a deep breath and barks out, "Comrades- Directions.. Marchand, West. Thompson, South. Peters, North. Drensby, East."

Alfred nods some, taking a moment to sight in his rifle on one corpse before settling in to watch.
Jason peeks his head up and nods towards Vaclav, shifting to take ahold of his rifle and aim it.
Marchand hears the corporal. "Yes, comrade." and looks down to his arm. "Can someone try patching my arm with a bandage?"
«Game» Jason wields his .44 Largo Tigre!
Vaclav wonders under his breath of Lind, "You have dynamite, comrade?"
Marchand speaks low, "I have two sticks of dynamite. But my arm will make any try at throwing it go wild."
«Ground Combat» Marchand reloads his Mauser M1893!
Marchand checks his weapon. "Full gun load, but only fourteen on my belt."
Vaclav nods once. "Hold dynamite.. Until they come to wall. Only have one shot at such, and by time they come so far, all bullets spent."
Alfred says aloud, quoting something he remembered from a small bit of american history. "To quote a famous general, wait until you see the whites of their eyes."
Lind nods to Vaclav. "I also took a molotov," she explains and shows it where she's tucked it carefully under her coat. "If they come here, I will use first dynamite, then molotov?"
Marchand quietly mutters, "Save dynamite for tanks. Molotov's better against troops."
«Game» Alfred changes his style to Stealth!
Vaclav nods curtly to Lind. Drawing a breath, he roares out the last lines of the Internationale, "It is the final struggle! Let us gather, and tomorrow! The Internationale will be mankind!"
«Game» Lind tries to inspire the troops!
Marchand speaks quietly, "Beware of Moros sneaking in trying to bayonet at close range." He eyes west.
Jason raises his .44 up into the air in response to Vaclav. "Yes, Comrade Corporal!" He cheers, then coughs hard and grins, lifting up his block of chocolate he has stored and breaking it in half, he then tosses one half over the area towards Micah. "I owe you. Yes? Eat it. Its good."
Alfred settles in, not saying a word. Slowly his eyes scan; watching. Waiting. Reaching forward, he squeezes his sand sack, raising the end of his rifle just a tiny bit; still it's enough to make the rifle tip raise.
Lind immediately joins in and begins singing. Her voice is pleasant, as made for inspirational speeches and songs. The melody is the same, but she's singing in Swedish because she knows the text best that way. "Upp till kamp emot kvalen…." But Marchand's quiet reminder makes her shut up and instead focus, cocking her head to listen and to watch westwards.

Jason chuckles and begins to sing to himself. "Hi! Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag, And smile,smile, smile. While you've a lucifer to light your fag, Smile, boys, that's the style. What's the use of worrying? It was never worth while, so Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag, And smile, smile, smile!" He is trying to sound cheerful, anyway. But even his voice is starting to waver at the amount of numbers coming in.

Lind takes out her molotov and moves as close to the east as she dares before standing up quickly and lobbing it over towards the enemy eastwards. It's a desperate measure, but luck is with her this time - a fire catches on over there, which will help in the long run. Then she wields her lebel again.
Alfred fires again, missing. Even so he keeps taking his time, picking his targets well.

Vaclav, teeth gritted through the pain of a dozen wounds, growls, aloud, "East! Charge them!" and staggers on a ruined leg toward the Condor Legionaries in the company's rear. Almost comically slowed he lurches forward, determined, through the hail of gunfire.

Vaclav brings the gunstock down in a violent blow that slams into engel's chest, driving the fascist to the ground. Breath released in a loud, wordless roar, the corporal's shoulders heave with labored breaths, as his narrowed blue eyes take in the scene.
«Game» Jason loots the body of Sigi
Marchand steps the guy, his bayonet thrusting through Sigi's chest. "Got you!" he yells.
Jason watches as Sigi goes down, and then turns to turn his attentions on a.. unconcious Engel.
«Announcement from Death!» The few left on Suicide Hill, stubbornly clinging to the bitter end, are hugely outnumbered now as the Republicans are forced back off the hilltop… Retreat comes the cry!
«Announcement from Death!» Though the hill is covered with Nationalist dead.
Marchand lifts his head. "Hear that? REtreat!"
Vaclav shouts westward: "Comrades! East is clear! Move now!" Bracing his battered balance against the stone wall, he growls, "Bring the wounded. Fall back to road, comrades."
Jason nods his head to Vaclav. "Yes Comrade Corporal!" He then looks at the man, frowning. "Come, Comrade Corporal. We cannot leave you behind!"
Marchand lookts to Fritz, "Grab a weapon. We have to pull back!"
Marchand comes down to the road, bruised and battered with his arm badly wounded.
Jason 's arm is wound around Vaclav, helping the man along as much as he can. "Come on, Comrade Corporal. Do you want me to try and help your wounds?"
Alfred gets dragged along, looking rather out of it. It took a bit of time to dig him from underneath those rocks, and to put it mildly it looks as though it's addled his brains some. Yes dear friends, he does have brains. See, they leak out of his ear now.
Marchand speaks up, once he makes it to the gravel pavement. "Comrade Corporal. I suggest we pull back, retreat as ordered, to the town to the north."
Marchand adds, "We're in the open here. No cover. No truck to drive."
Bleeding from both arms, Gonzales falls back to the others. "Doesn't look too good, does it?" he comments, bit idly, while still watching the west. One glance over at Alfred, and a quiet comment. "So that's what his brains look like…" He then looks back to the west, staying quiet for now.
The ruined Company limps along the northward road, Vaclav being helped along, teeth gritted together. The unconscious Lind being lugged over his less brutalized shoulder.. A curt nod to Marchand. "Yes. Reform with Fifteenth.. Refit at Madrid, as ordered. Move!"
Alfred slips, falling onto his back and lying there. Holding up one hand, he says sleepily/drunkedly. "I claim…this land for spain."
Marchand motions north, up the road they'd travelled down. "You heard him, comrades. March! North to the town to join the Fourteenth!"
Jason nods his head in agreement. He shifts his rifle to an idle position, shifting Vaclav to lean more heavily on the British sapper. He begins to do his best to march and help Vaclav do as best a march as the man can. "Onwards, Comrades!"
Alfred finds himself picked up, muttering something about wanting to go back to sleep mommy. Just a few more moments. He really doesn't want to go to school today. Still, he drapes an arm over someone as he's drag walked away.
Jason grunts, making sure Alfred is alright. He did pull the man out of those rocks, after all, and feels obligated to make sure he doesn't bash his head any more.
Vaclav rumbles through clenched teeth, "Why could fascists not have shot out stupid nazi's tongue?" Drawing a deep, heaving breath, the corporal repeats, "Move, comrades!"
Gonzales nods a little as he hears what's being said, while still keeping his attention on the west, just in case. As he has heard both Vaclav's words and Marchand's, he shakes his head a little, "14th or 15th, decide…" he mutters to himself, in Spanish. Falling back with the others, although he holds back to help guarding their rear.
Michael Mehlman starts to walk north slowly, he assistes whoever he can and starts walking…
Lind hangs like a ragdoll over Vaclav's shoulder. The blood on her is mostly coming from him, so it looks worse than it is. She suddenly groans and is waking up. Lifting her head up, she sees the road moving beneath her. "What…" she says, voice coarse.
Vaclav grunts and mutters to Jason, "Wait. Err! Help her down.." As Lind begins to stir. "Whoever is healthy, run ahead.. contact Fif- Fourtheenth? Fourteenth. Get medics ready.."
Jason grunts and stops, grabbing Lind as he drags her off of the poor man's shoulder, moving her over to lean on him also. "Okay. Quick march now, Comrade, Comrade Corporal. We'll get you seen to."
Marchand starts helping guide men north, keeping an eye out for any signs of enemy activity along the road.
Fritz Yakov looks at Vaclav. 'Corporal, I believe that we may be cut off…or ..at least not in the safest of locations..'
Vaclav growls to Yakov, "Yes! that why me moving north! Company!" Apparently his throat is the last thing unhurt on the corporal, as he bellows, "Keep Moving!"
Lind drapes an arm around Jason's shoulder, on the other side of Vaclav. She's got a splitting headache and her eyes are crossing. Definitely a concussion, but compared to some, she got off lightly. She makes an attempt to focus. "How bad?" she asks, and looks first at Jason who is closest, then at Vaclav. She gasps out. "Herregud." THe word is Swedish, but no doubt something of religious origin. In her state, communistic propaganda doesn't come instinctively.

Vaclav shouws through gritted teeth, before unleashing a torrents of roares words in the gutteral tongue that is czech..
Fritz Yakov Hefts up his Vickers, gently hefting it across his shoulders. 'Alright..North..' He Says, unhappy at being completely ran out of ammo.
Marchand growls as he buckles forward, the damned medics poking holes in his intestines. "I can't keep this up."
Duncan moves over to try help Marchand, but it seems that the doctor seems to be having trouble with the work. "Oh dear…" he mutters, sighing a bit. Must be tired from the work, or something.
Marchand nods as medics tend him. "My arm, my hand. It's useless now." as he swallows.
Lind is watching the doctor treating Vaclav. She's so awed by how much wounds he has that she can't even worry about her own. That, and she's rather groggy from that near-death experience with a bullet drawing a line in her skull. Some of her hair has burnt right off at the roots.
Alfred ends up sitting on the ground, rather addled. The doctors give him the once over, declare him sound, if not sane… (was he ever?)
Vaclav has been settled down on his back for treatment, occasionally gritting his teeth, but remaining as jaw clenchingly silent as he can, excepting to rumble out levelly, "Send.. Word. Need refitting. Munitions." Even with the best efforts of the doctors and medics, the corporal will not be ready for more action for quite some time..
Marchand speaks low near the corporal. "We had to leave the Breda behind, and the fascists took our truck."
Vaclav snarls through clenched teeth, blue eyes squeezing shut before muttering to Marchand, "Notify command. Artillery lost. Munitions spent. Require reinforcement."
Marchand nods slowly, somberly, back to the corporal. "We have no radio contact, comrade. I'll see if I can send a message with the medics and their ambulance corps."
Vaclav nods tersely once, growling wordlessly at the continued ministrations, eyes squeezing shut a second time. "Do it," he manages.
Marchand offers a salute of a raised clenched fist, and steps back from there the corporal's being tended. His arm is wrapped in bandages, but actually looks worse in spots.
Fritz Yakov Despite the Vickers being expended, and bloody rents blown through his clothes, he's still holding it at a ready position, like through will alone, it will conjure bullets to fire.
Alfred moves some, walking over to slip himself slowly into the cover of a ditch. At least there he can get a tiny bit of sleep. Though, knowing his luck, someone will think he's dead and bury him there.
Lind gets shuffled off with the other wounded. She has an argument about wanting to stay with Vaclav, partly because she's confused, terrified and he seems to be the solid rock, and partly because she promised she'd assist him. In the end, she's talked into being carried off and promised she'll be in the same aid station.
Gonzales makes along with the others, frowning a little as he moves.
Alfred growls, yes he growls, at the medic that procedes to drag him off. Spitting and sputtering he tries his best to beat the snot out of the men, but it really doesn't help. Ultimately those rocks addled his brains more than he thought.
