Letter To Brother

May 1940

Hello Heinrich,

I hope you are healing well and that you soon can be back at the front. I am
fit for duty again after my small scratch and find myself right in the action
again. Earlier tonight we went on a patrol and encountered some French
bastards dug in just a little south of where I am writing this from. We had a
small exchange of bullets with a few injuries on both sides, among those taken
out of action was our Untersturmfuhrer, but I am not sure how badly it was.
Finally I ordered our small squad to fallback, and no, I have not gotten
promoted, I had the lowest rank by far. Maybe it was a side effect from my
earlier injury? I have not spoken to my suprerior yet, but I will accept
whatever punishment they see fit for my madness.

Heil Hitler!
Josef
